Ford DOHC engine number?

Does anyone know where to find the engine number of a Ford DOHC engine?

I've got one of these engines and had exactly the same problem.

I found the code on the top left corner of the engine block, at the front of the engine where the drive belt is.

The letters weren't stamped very deep and were only about 3-5mm high. Almost impossible to see unless you're close up!

If your engine block is as covered in crap as mine was, just look REALLY closely as the stamping is very easy to miss.

Then when you've found the code, use the Burton Power catalogue to get the manufacturing date.

Hope this helps!
