XFlow final year
Does anyone know the buildyear of the youngest XFlow engine? Is it pre-1995? Is there also some way of IDing the buildyear with the enginenumber?

Nice site thanks. I do not have the enginenumber yet, but can you tell if the XFlow is pre-1995? It doesn't say on the site.

AFAIK, the crossflow ceased production in 1980 with the demise of the MKll Escort. There are similar engines used in the Fiesta and Ka, but they share
very few components.

^^^^ OHV Fiesta used crossflow; shallower timing cover and different thrmostat housing are the only difference I know of but then I am not expert.

Mk1 Fiesta 1600 (Xr2) used a variant of the Xflo but it had some significant differences.
It also continued for a year or two after the Escort in the Transit 75.

Actually, ford south africa kept building the crossflow well into the nineties, possibly even past 2000, that's where caterham got them from for
the sprint.
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

I'm pretty sure it was produced until recently in Marine form...

I thought production stopped in the Nineties and Caterham bought a huge container load of them. When they ran out they stopped selling them.
(although i have absolutely no proof of this except i've got an AX block in the garage).

Yep, it was definitely sold as a marinised engine, I found a web site selling new ones not that long ago. However, I don't have a clue if they
are still produced.
