Radiator Leak
Ello guys,
Basically im having a problem with my locost Indy, I've built it up with a Fireblade engine and now ive discovered that when the engine comes up
to temp its causing the radiator cap to wee water everywhere.
Im getting a bit tired of topping the thing back up with a new bottle of water constantly. So do any of you have any ideas what might be causing this
OR how to resolve it?

well, for a start check the rad cap is ok, it could be that the spring is broken etc and that's causing it.
then make sure there are no airlocks in the system
then is it only when it is hot, or does it throw water out when still fairly cold, but revved hard, in which case its probably head gasket

Is you're header tank at the highest point in the system?

you may need a rad cap with a different pressure setting, I had a similar problem on my old aus#tin all down to pressure rating

It only does it when the Engine is hot, never at cold! My header tank is the highest point in the system (had to adjust that) and I was thinking it
could be the Rad cap not having a strong enough pressure seal rating?

If your header tank has a pressure release valve (if it's yellow then it does) then get a non-releasing cap for the rad from CBS for about a £5
- job done!...

Cooling systems should only have one pressure cap -- otherwise it can cause air locks and/or excessive coolant loss on warm up.
The pressure cap is a 2 way valve it acts as a vacuum relife valve allowing air back into the system as the engine cools.
