if it's not one thing it's another :(
well the old girl has been off the road for a month now
i fixed the cam followers and fired her up and all was fine ran like a dream . then the fuel pump fell apart
replaced that with a electric pump, but as i was removing the trans tunnel cover to wire it in i noticed that the paint on the drivers floor was
blistering .
discovered the brake master cylinder has dumped all the fluid into the foot well .
this was a new cylinder and has only done 800 miles. the cylinder was fitted as it came out the box. should it have had a rubber boot over the push
rod to keep the fluid in, of have the seals just packed up?
will this car ever run this summer? i'm getting very down about this
i get no time to fix it during the nice months as the family want to go out and hence no money to spare for parts

Bad news, the boot only keeps dirt out and the seal's gone if it leaks
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

that's what i thought
as it happens i do have a spare in the garage the one form the donor. i replaced it because i could not bleed the brakes ( the calipers were on
upside down )
can you get repair kits for the seals?
ditch
ps off to legoland today only a 2 hour drive each way
i've also got an eye infection that i need to see the doc about tommorrow i think the earliest he will be able to see me is mid day so not worth
going into work i think

You may be able to get a repair kit from your local motor factors , I think Bennetts have a branch in Ipswich ? If no joy there then Past Parts in
Bury St Edmunds may be able to help. Do you still have the invoice for the faulty cylinder? it may be worth having a word with the supplier?

Ditch,
We haven't had a summer anyway so you've not really missed anything. Having the car available when you know what it can do and you
can't is IMHO worse than not having it available...
You'll sort it and then the sun will come out for three months!
If you pay peanuts...
Mentale, yar? Yar, mentale!
Drive it like you stole it!

If you've got an eye infection it might be worth trying to get some chloramphenicol over the counter. You don't need a prescription for
the drops anymore....
Was the old MC old? Maybe the seals perished in storage if they were dry?

i've used bennets before so i'll give them a try.
the old master cylinder was ok when i took it off but that was a couple of years ago, and as for a receipt for the new one i've moved twice
since that was installed..
i know it will be worth all the agro, the first year or two were always for Snagging and tweeking, it's just i'm addicted to the thing and
i will even take it out in the pouring rain i just miss the old girl
i'll spend the afternoon tommorrow tarting around with it, i may even get the master cylinder replaced, i'll give the old one a go as
i've nothing to loose, and if it works i'll fix the other one for next time.
