Modifying Type 9 gbox mount

Hi folks,

I am in the process of modifying a type 9 gearbox mount and was looking to remove the cone that the bolt passes through. It is vital to the operation of the mount or can I junk it?

I assume it is only there to stop to moving too far but is it vital??

Thanks in advance..........

Chris

It does serve a purpose - I believe that it's there to limit the amount of movement.

Many people have managed without it though...

It,s part of the mount and has been engineered for a purpose, why junk it, it takes up little space and unless you fit another type of mount or hard mount it (not recommended) why leave it off?
Also the central bolt is an earth strap fixing point.

keep it or you'll only end up fitting a westfield mount. i was unaware of it's real purpose when i junked mine.

the sierra mount is too soft to keep the box in the limited amount of space without the cone.
