No, iron block. Very compact engine though.

For completeness Astom Martin DB6 and DBS engines are alloy block

yup the latest ie 2000 i think onwards big block ecotecs are ally, not sure about the smaller capacity ones.

Pretty sure the 1.4/1.6 16v vauxhall blocks are iron, the ones up to around 2000 are at least.

How much weight reduction is there from a typical alloy block over a cast one? 20kg?

Saw somewhere on the net that the B16A and like engines have alloy blocks, although this was forum guesses I think, so not definative.

An open deck wet liner alloy block with liners is about 1/3 the weight a normal style cast iron one.

I think the 2.2 might be the only large 4 cylinder Vx engine that is ally, I think the 2L Ecotec is still iron cos AFAIK its basically the old Red Top Xe engine with a strangled emissions friendly head on it, dunno about the other smaller ones.
