Buy a broken one and fix it ! Isn't that the way of the locost ? 
Edited to add that some of the V4 bike engines should be available more cheaply as they're not popular transplants.
Also look at the BMW bike engines, very strong and reasonably powerful and shaft drive with everything the right way round

maybe if i lived in england were its possible to source more than one engine locally but out here it would be cheap for the first one if your lucky
