Which oil

I'm just about finished rebuilding a V8 Rover 3500 engine which had done about 100,000 miles .Before the rebuid the oil pressure was quite good when warmed up (30-40psi) . Because i left the bottom end alone and only reground the valves cam etc i was wondering what engine oil i should use. 10W40 is reccomended in the manual but do you agree?

cheers
