Mk2 MR2 engine conversion??

I'm well aware of the 1600 16v 4A-GE (and Raw's 20v imported version) fitment to a Ford type 9, but can the same be done with one of these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-MK2-3SGE-ENGINE-78-000-MILES-GREAT-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ260320781955QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?h ash=item260320781955&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Just wondered, as there seems to a lot of them for not a lot of money.

Cheers in anticipation,

Martin.

Yes it can...
Here is a photo of my friends ford escort with one of those engines in (the 3s-GTE which is the turbocharged model however the block is the same)

A flange needs to be done to fit the engine to the gearbox and you'd need a new flywheel made to accomodate the clutch.

Lovely engine that one.

If you can, get the 3stge!
I had an st205 gt-four with that engine and its an amazing engine

Fensport is the place to go if you need parts or info... they have a gen 7 celica with a 3sgte engine... its a work of art!

Thanks for the info guys - all good stuff.

Used Fensport before, my wife had a mk1 mr2 and have used them for parts in the past, good service too.
