Gearbox for 400ft/lb??
I'd like some recomendations on what gearbox to use in an MK Indy with a possible 400ft/lb of torque?
I'm gonna me making a custom bell housing so it doesn't really matter what make so long as it'll fit in.
Cheers, Simon

there is a gearbox made by / or called tremec
do a google
when peeps do a manual xjs conversion (over 300lbs iirc) they use either a T5, a supra box, or a tremec
think the tremec is best - think it costs over a grand tho...

Tremec seems to be the choice for modern big V8 american cars certainly.
Supra box is v strong too as mentioned.
Maybe RWD Skyline too? I heard of Cosworth people changing to skyline running gear because the MT75 can't take it.
Real Steel will sell you a Tremec box I think, give em a call.
May I ask what engine you are putting in?

on major tuned supras they tend to use the auto box, apparently its stronger than the manual one. Only hearsay though and fairly irrelevant to us...

Hi
The Luego that used to be on the home page of this site ran a "Getrag" box.
( Was it a Jag engine? )
It's what I'v got hooked up to my Lotus.
Cost me £150 (result)
Too much is just enough

mackie - the cossy boys are changing from MT75 4x4 to the skyling 4x4 not only because of the limitations of the mt75 box, but the skyline box (or
some of them) have selectable 4x4 more fun
