Air filter for 1.8 CVH Carb ideas?

I have done a search on ebay and looked at some of the after market products and also gone on to K&N website.

I would like to replace the pan style airfilter assembly with a smaller dome shaped thingy?

The ones I find on ebay all have an entry hole max of around 72 mm where as the top of the Pierburg carb is 92 mm.

Am I missing a simple search phrase I wonder, I seem to end up with induction kits and parts of!

On K&N I just end up with the standard air filer element.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction.

TIA

Adrian

Seems the CVH engine are not that popular, you could try www.burtonpower.co.uk they have a selection.

i am running a 1600 CVH and getting parts for that can be a pain aswell

Ahhh Poo!

I wonder if I can make something to sit on the carb and take a smaller ring style air filter but be SVA friendly with regards to radius and stuff. It would have to stick above the bonnet line.

Need some thick aluminium plate.

I managed to get one, but had to wait 5 weeks for an order from the states. However, due to my cvh packing in it is now spare if you want it. Its the bolt on chrome filter and looks nice with a bit of induction roar aswell.

If you're interested then i'll put up some pics.

Cheers...Andy

I have a CVH too, not had a problem with service parts, but not needed much else yet.
- Thats running on twin 40's so im using a ITG megaflow filter, but that doesnt help if your on the Pierburg carb.

Spud69.

It would be nice to see what it looks like. I guess it sticks through the bonnet, not what I really wanted to do but needing to stick with the Pierburg carb at present.

To be honest what I was starting to think about was to see if I could use one of the either smaller ring filters or even a square flat one that went up against the inside of the bonnet and then seeing if I can use one of those dummy air scoop/bulge type thing selling for less then £15 on ebay to keep the induction noise away from the driver.

May be a waste of time, but I thought worth a try.

It does stick up through the bonnet about 1", i couldn't find any way round this as not much room on top of the carb.

There are some pictures on the Haynes website if you do a search under same username, i cant seem to upload pics on here to my photo archive.
