where has the 12 mm gone?
I measured difference in block height for 1300 and 1600 crossflow engines (from centre of crank to top of block) to be 40 mm.
The difference in 1/2 stroke is 8 mm and difference in conrod length is 20, so total is 28 mm.
This leaves 12 mm unaccounted for - anyone know where that has gone?
(Doubts about my measuing is creeping in but pretty sure I got it right).

The height of the piston to the top of the crown?
Are newer crossflows still using dished pistons and flat heads? Just curious.
Finally back on the job!

standard tuning practise is to fit psiton from smaller capacity engine (1100 -> 1300 and 1300 ->1600) since the cimbustion chanber in piston
varies, hence upping the CR, hence I owuld guess the distance from gudgeaon poin to piston top is the same.

Crank throw? Determines stroke for increasing the capacity if you get my drift

Already taken that into account, see: The difference in 1/2 stroke is 8 mm

As said, it's probably piston height above the gudgeon pin.
