Cooling system
Just thinking about plumbing in my V8's cooling. I've read quite a few threads on this - but I've not been able to determine for sure
if my proposed system is flawed.
Basically, I wan't to keep it simple...

That will do it nicely
You can use one of the various plastic external thermostats Land-Rover used on some P38 or Discos or Freelanders models they open both of
temperature and flow, so if you rev the engine hard even when cold some coolant goes through the rad.
Do an Ebay search on Landrover thermostat

Thanks 'trident. Will bear in mind the external thermostat as a future upgrade.
There's been some talk in the past indicating that header tanks need to have a flow through them - which I didn't really understand/agree
with. The Polo rad that I have has a very small inlet that I intend to connect to the header tank (I'd guess 8mm ID) - but I don't see why
that should cause an issue as it the only flow will be through filling the system or expansion of the coolant.

if the header tank has a flow through it the system is self-bleeding (if done properly).
8mm id pipe might be a bit small - 12mm would allow air to go up as water goes down.

The most important thing on v8 rovers is the little 8mm water pipe, on an injection system this is behind the top of the water pump next to the temp
sensor, on carbs a pipe is located on the triangle between the carbs.
This must go to an expansion bottle or top of the rad so it can blow out air.
If this becomes blocked the engines have all sorts of overheating issues.

You've got me worried now... do you mean the one on the inlet manifold behind the thermostat housing? If so, I've chopped it off and
blanked the hole! It was plumbed to the throttle warmer plate which seemed a bit superfluous.
