1.8 Zetec POP!

Was out today for first time in the striker "Clubman' road tune Zetec 1800 130 cams, Weber-Alpha 3D ignition management, twin Weber 40 carbs".
Great fun but turn off ignition, or kill battery with cut off, and it stops, then 3 seconds later there is a loud pop exactly like a backfire.
Is that normal?
Anyone know anywhere near Cardiff who could set up the carbs etc if that would help?
Cheers

Mine does it every so often. Unburnt fuel in the exhaust I guess.

Have you got a FIA battery cutoff with the ballast resistor? If not be careful switching it off with the engine running as it can cause a spike that goes back into the alternator and fry it. I know from experience!

Thanks gents,
Wyn, I will give him a call, cheers.
Greg, the cut off is some kind of electronic fancy one, but however it works I guess its safer to turn off the key!

May be a good idea to just leave the bang and use the car to pick the kids up from school! Street cred!
