pinto camshaft

can i put a camshaft from a 1.6 pinto on a 2.0 head?
the cam shaft is a standard 1.6 so will the duration and lift be ok?
Also do i need to use the 1.6 followers that are with the camshaft or will i need to buy new followers?

IIRC all pinto cams were the same

The 1600 cam has less overlap, less duration and slightly less lift but fits perfectly. Not a helpfull option IMO.

the reason i ask is that i have a 1.6 head that has only done 13k and is in perfect condition but is not unleaded and ive been offered a 2.0 ltr unleaded head but the cam is showing some wear and wondered if i could just swap cams and followers and save a few bob.

You can swap the head straight over I think (stand to be corrected though). It will raise the compression ratio as the 1.6 head has smaller combustion chambers, but this may be desirable if you are planning further tuning as well.

Cheers

Nick

IIRC it's the other way around - for race tuning it is recommended that you use with a 1.6 head on the 2.0l 205 block.......

Now this is getting complicated.
I was told that for better performance you should put the 2.0 head on the 1.6 block.I have to use the 1.6 block and i have to change the head ,so i might as well go for the 2.0ltr (bigger valves and better gas flow).

If you have a read of what Dave Baker at Puma Racinghas to say it will all become clearer. If you are looking for more power you can spend quite a bit of cash tuning a 1600 before getting up to level of power from a standard 2litre.

Get a 2ltr cam kit for it. You get the full gasket set with it and the cam is a better breathing one than the 1.6. It's not expensive either.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Standard kit is under £50 including gasket set at most of the suppliers round here, a set of valve stem oil seals will cost another £8.
