I made my one, ex sierra 2 litre, to be 177mm front to back. ( a fraction under 7" )

I did a full installation drawing of the external dimensions of the type 9 and put it on the Yahoo locost list a couple of years back I nolonger have
a copy but it might still be there. Also a drawing of the chassis area for geabox mount.

Please
Is there anyone out there that could please find this information for me (see Britishtrident's post above). All i really need to establish is
the length of the input shaft and the diameter of the output shaft.
I am at work just now and my companies firewall wont allow me onto that page for some reason. I really need to sort this out today, as i have arranged
with a weld specialist to fabricate my Ford and Toyota bellhousings tonight (to mate the 4AGE to the T9).
i dont want to 'make' a bellhousing and then find that it is based on the wrong gearbox!!!
I am sure there is someone out there doing nothing????!!!

Dave,
thanks for the posting. I have tried to open the file, but it is so small i can read it, when i try and zoom in the quality distorts to make it
unreadable.
Can you view it OK?
Any chance you could load it onto this thread?
thanks.

Sorry, no idea, but common figures bandied about are 150mm for four pot, and 170mm for V6s. No idea about the output shaft though

According to Robin Hood the props come with 30mm(4speed) and 35mm(5 speed) shafts so that is the size of the gearbox takeoff but the thing you need to
know is what spline pattern is the shaft inside the gearbox tail. Can't help with that though, sorry.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

From memory on the inline type 9 the tip input shaft is just 2 or 3 mm inside the bellhousing.
I will check I have one lying out the car.

Measured from the type 9 box that I`m going to use in my build from a 2 litre Sierra.
Input shaft, has clearance of only .6mm to a straight edge placed across the face of the bell housing.
Major diameter of splines 25.5mm
Minor diameter of splines 22.5mm
No. of splines 23.
Front of propshaft 35 mm outside diameter.
Major diameter of internal spline 28mm.
Minor diameter of internal spline 25mm.
No of splines 25.
Best of luck with these , cheers, Steve.

One more thing..........honest!
Can someone tell me a part number for the standard spigot bearing for insertion into the crank?
Failing that, can someone advise on the type of bearing generally used for this application i.e. ball, needle etc.
Thanks.

The spigot bearing is a standard ford part cost me about £5. It is a needle bearing. Just ask at any ford parts shop.
