Carb on a pinto easier to play with if u doing it on the cheap(ish)

twin 40/45 webers seems to be a popular choice but can get expensive even with second hand parts,but they do look and sound good.They also fit under
the bonnet so they look tidier.I have seen a single 45 sidedraft on a pinto manifold so that could also be an option.

I have a 2.0 Pinto, I had the choice of twin 45's or using the injection system free with the car, with my usual tight fisted, mean attitude to
spending money, I went for the free injection instead of the £200 webers.
Converting the inj system to fit my car cost about £15 and about 20 hours of work/headscratching.

After careful consideration I'm going the injection route. Although it is more effort because you need to chop down the injection plenum, the
injection engine is more powerful because it has better gas flow in the head (115bhp compared to the carb engine's 100 or so). This means that
if you do decide to replace the injection system with twin carbs for example it will produce more power than if you put twin carbs on the carb engine
(if you see what I mean!)
I also prefer the look of the car with the injection engine because you get to keep the smooth bonnet as opposed to cutting a hole in it for the air

Mark, have you got any details of how you converted your injection system? I'm coming up to that stage soon, trying to avoid it but I know it
has to be done at some point!

Go with a standard injection system.
Don't cam it or it will only give you torque at high revs. A Kent FR33 will make it go like a rocket when on the cam but it will drive like a
dog in town.
Standard Injection is deffinatly the route for cheep plentiful BHP.

The Kent FR34 cam gives a useful bit of extra umph through the rev range.

Go for the webbers if you've got the cash, properly set up they give more power, but most important of all, they sound the dogs danglies!

also, remember that you'll save money by going the injection route cos as well as not having to buy carbs you'll benefit from better fuel
economy and wont have to have the thing set up on a rolling road!

on an other note,anyone who can answer this, what is involved with attaching weber carbs onto a pinto, and (probstupid question...) how much better
will it actually be from the original carb?! ...I didnt even realise you had to use a rolling road

There worth 12hp, up to about 135hp, after this the standard carb(32/36) can't cope but they will go to about 165 (for 45's)
