What bellhousing do I have?
I've just spent time degreasing and painting my bellhousing, and it looks great - only problem is it doesn't fit my gearbox!
It's a Type 9 from an xr4i, so has the longer input shaft. I've bought the adaptor from Caterham to account for the extra length.
The circular register on the gearbox that the bellhousing fits on is 112mm diameter, and it's the same on the adaptor and the gaskets, but the
corresponding hole in the bellhousing is 108mm, thus the two won't fit together.
It's definately a ford bellhousing, as it has ford casting marks in it.
I thought all ford bellhousings were interchangeable, so does anyone know what I have?
Cheers

Good gearbox, however the V6 bellhousings are different and don't fit the pinto/zetec etc engines. you need the pinto/type 9 bellhousing which
bolts straight onto your gearbox and then will mate to the 4 cyl engine of your choice.
What engine are you using?

I'ts not the V6 housing, I bought a 'normal' bellhousing from ebay, as I already knew that the v6 one wouldn't work. The
bellhousing pattern is different, and it's 30mm longer (hence the need to buy an adaptor from Caterham whenusing a normal bellhousing).
It's going on a 2l Silvertop Zetec.

If it's 30mm longer it sounds like you have another v6 bellhousing the pinto one is 30mm shorter than the V6 one.

I just happen to have mine beside the PC in the living room (and the gearbox, hubs, wheels, etc...... they are all very clean)
mine says 71bb7505ac
its definatly from a 2.0 pinto - I took it off myself
(from a granada, but its the same as the sierra)
there is also a version that they used on the 1.8 diesel sierra's that used a long input shaft.....

Sorry Mookaloid, I meant the V6 one is 30mm longer, the one I have is the same as a normal pinto one, just with a smaller hole where it attaches to
the gearbox.
Just noticed mine doesn't have the hole at the top of the housing for the selector rod - wonder if it's from an auto?

Not quite sure what a picture could show that I haven't described. Basically I've got a ford bellhousing with a 108mm hole in it, where
most seem to be 112mm. I was just wondering someone knew what my bellhousing came from.
Cheers
