catalyitic converter
all this talk of exhaust has me thinking...
i need a cat converter for my exhaust system, but the pipes are 2.5" so that rules out just about every normal car system i could take one
from.
seen this
http://www.maperformance.com/vibrant-performance-metal-core-race-catalytic-converters.html
from america, looks good and cheap, but how would i go about being sure it'll work well before potentially wasting a lok of money?
getting over from US won't be a big issue, not expecting tax will be either...
how do i spec up a cat system?
or what cars have a cat which could be fitted up to my 2.5" system easily enough, to be replaced by the original pipe soon after IVA

whats the 21.95 fee? plan is to buy it, and have it brought back from america in my mums luggage
volvo one is interesting though. are they all 2.25? how would i go about reducing the pipe down to join? probably very straight forward lol any photos
to see what they're like?
my plan is to remove a section of pipe, weld flanges on so the cat can be bolted in, and the original pipe has flanges added to be bolted back again

cat should slip inside the 2.5 pipe .
21.95 for international customers - you pay shipping / customs when it lands .

my mum's cabin crew she's over there all the time. get it shipped to her hotel, she picks it up, in her bag to bring home. done
you're right, its only a 1/4" difference, so should be alright i'd need to add a bit of pipe to make it the same length for the bit
i remove though, but won't be a problem. any specific volvo models i should look at?

2.5 inch is considered normal size over here, 4 and 5 litre engines being the norm, even the smaller cars have 2 Litre plus engines. Most 5 litre
V8's would have two cats of that size.

^ i thought that, so 2 cats on a 5 litre engine, kinda almost like one cat for 2.5 litres. put it in a bit better perspective

cat in instead. 2 secs...

Description
so that bit there hasn't got anything inside it, so i'm not really sure what it actually does, but the plan is to chop that bit out, weld
flanges on all the ends of the pipes, then make up a cat the same length to replace it, again with the standard flanges to bolt it all up.
not entirely sure how that expansion chamber works. i thought it was a catalyst, but its got nothing inside it at all. should really consider making
it into a silencer, as the 1 silencer near the end looks near useless

Expansion chambers are for two stroke motors, works like a tuned header on a 4 stroke, what engine was in the car previous, could be an attempt to
quiet the system.
What you have planned sounds good, look for an after market US cat for a Camero or Mustang, some are only about 12" long, smaller because they
use one on each exhaust pipe ahead of the muffler or resonator.

it was a vauxhall/GM red top, so definitely a 4 stoke motor. i guess it must give some kind of silencing, but it'll have to go, as its the only
place to put a cat as far as i know, it was a pro built racing system so it must do some good.

How far away is that expansion box from your engine ?
The cat wants to be close as pos to it .
Its no good at the rear of the system

its about half way down, but there really isn't any other place for it in the engine bay or tunnel
plan is to wrap the whole exhaust up in heat wrap to try and keep as much heat in as possible until it gets to the cat
its basically right where the exhaust comes out the back of the tunnel
