1.6 zetec age
My brother just replaced the engine in his 2003 focus (big end went on his first). We are a bit suspicious that the engine we got from the scrappy is
older than what they said it was. Where would the engine code be on this so that i can check the age of engine?
Thanks
Mikkel

IIRC it should be a SIgma SE for a 1.6 focarse as my mate has had exactly the same problem with his, and we've been hunting for months for a
breaker that has a running engine (and guess what every one is being broken due to bottom end failure!)

From memory, on mine there is a bar code stuck to the back of the engine (sorry, but I can't remember exactly where) plus I'm pretty sure
that the year of manufacture is cast on the block. Mine has an 03 cast on it.
Burton have a chart for identifying Ford manufacture dates at;

Hmm, theres one along the road from me with big end gone as well!
Have a look on the castings for the little circular calenders that indicate the exact time of manufacture for a good idea.
