Sausage Filter ZX6 Carbs

After cutting the eliptical hole for the sausage filter to just poke out of the bonnet i am having clearance issues between the edge of the filter and the bonnet.
Bought the back plate and filter from GBS.
Can i remove the plastic cover on the carbs that have the trumpets on and just fit the back plate, that might just give me the room i need.
How have other chaps fitted their filters, any pictures for the hard of understanding would be welcome.

think i know what you mean (but a picture would be helpfull) are you talking about the orignal air box back plate that fixes to the carbs and the trumpets then fix to it? only think i can think of if you remove it and fix the Ali back plate direct to the carbs haw would you fix the trumpets and may also change air flow to the other jets outside the trumpets

if it is the back plate in the photo, take the trumpets off, back plate will come off and new back plate and trumpets can go back on
