Best place to buy exhaust wrap?

My next job! Any suggestions where to get some wrap at a decent price?

I got some from Merlin. Not so eye wateringly expensive and I trust them (always had good service too).

I got some of ebay being sold as ceramic heat wrap.
- Very simular to the glass stuff ive seen but thicker and a slightly rougher weave. Stuggling to find a sensable price for ties however so resorted to just use some mig wire.

I nearly bought a set of eight that seemed at a sensable price but right at the last minute noticed there where actaully 8" ties not 8. Suddently they where £4 each not £4 for 2*4 tubes!

Be carefull with the ties aswell,. the ones like stainless cable ties are crap. I junked mine and used stainless jubilee clips.

My wrap came from ebay cheap and quite good stuff. In black aswell.

I bought the stuff Fozzie recommended me. Bought for about £15 IIRC from Demon Tweaks.

It's important to get the good stuff that goes with the correct thermal spray.

I used stainless lock wire to tie it in place.

Cheers,
James

Well I'm remembering back 4/5 years so might be best to ask Fozzie as it was her that recommended it to me.

But I *think* this looks like the right stuff:

Although I was under the impression it was to help with the 'heat wrapping' rather than just to protect the heat wrapping as this description suggests.

Cheers,
James

Ooooo blast from the past there James!!!!!

This thread from 2004 ..... scroll down toward the end

I will add here, that this is not for the cheaper 'shiny/slippy' exhaust wrap, but for the bandage type, which must be put on fairly wet....... oh..and do lock-wire it.....

Oh yep ...edited to add...yes...that's the stuff/spray James has linked to.....make sure the wrap is thoroughly dry before applying..

Here it is 5 years after application.....
