CVH sump and oil pick-up mods

Alrighty then, here's the problem.

I have a 1600 cvh which is to be used in the Locost, but in its original incarnation it was housed in an Escort and therefore transversely mounted. I would like to assure that no harm comes to my engine so would like to modify the oil pick-up and sump baffles to best suit its new application. I also have an 1800 cvh which came with my donor Sierra. Can anyone tell me whether the sump and oil pick-up/oil pump are interchangeable and if that would provide a solution, or can anyone provide some ideas/drawings of how best to modify the existing set-up?

Have found a little information on the web at http://www.sylva.co.uk/cvh.html, but am wondering if there alternatives.

Any help on this is appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris.

The transverse mounting of a CVH is baffled sump wise to stop the oil surging to the front of the engine under braking/rear under acc' hills etc. When it is turn 90 degrees and used properly to drive the rear wheels the sump baffling will need checking. What was the side of the engine becomes the front/back.And front/back become sides..........I think.Provided the pick up dips enough into the oil in any given sump it should pick up.On the cvh it goes to the oil pump on the front of the crank,If mix and matching sumps/pick ups make sure the crank doesn't connect during rotation.

..Which was nice..

oh.If you can, stick to the escort engine and sump and modify that.It responds to tuning better and the sump gasket is about 90% cheaper that a 1.8cvhSierra item.

didn't know there'd be such a dramatic difference in price. Thanks.
