Non sparking Blade?

I'm fitting a Fireblade 1998 'W' 919cc engine but cannot get any sparks on the plugs. I have been told that the pink wire to the brain needs 3volts down it - on the bike this wire comes from the ignition switch (some sort of anti hot-wire gizmo?) the Haynes bike manual dosn't show any info other than that. I'm told that the brain won't release a spark unless this low voltage is present. Has anyone come accross this and what do you install to over come?
Any help most welcome!!

I had the same problem with my 98 fireblade. I don not remember it being a fault with the pink wire. In fact we have cut it of just after it came out of the computer. When my engine was faulty it would turn over but not start. In the end it was down to a fault within the computer. My local bike shop also said the pink wire was not important. This sounds like a similar problem. We tried another computer and then had to buy a new one, only cost 50 plus 10 delviery.

Hope my ramblings help

Jim
