New intercooler fitted
Just fitted MR2 alloy intercooler hopefully it will do the trick

interesting place to put an intercooler?
do you think this will be efficient enough there, ie can you get enough air through it?
Would need a good scoop to drive the air into it in that location,
Can you not mount this towards the nose cone area??

tony can you not get it in front of the rad and route the pipes around the edges?
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

you would be better off with a charge cooler there, ill put money on it that you wont get enough air there to make it worth it even with a bonnet
vent.

in short...yes i could do that, however i would need to change inlet manifold to a landrover mpi discovery item, and quite a lot more ducting. There
is a fan behind intercooler which isnt in view.
I know what you mean guys, but i was running with no intercooler at all! i got the intercooler of ebay for £40. I will do some datalogging and see if
IAT is any lower

if you get a ducted scoop to it and the fan is a sucker then it shoud be ok.

Looks good to me Tony, provided you can duct some air too it.
I only know too well what a PITA it is to find a good position for an Intercooler for these engines 
As said, only practical way to put it in front of the rad is to get a landrover manifold, or cut and shut the existing one.
In the end, I opted for a charger cooler. Still been a pain to plumb though - time will tell if it actually works.
Let us know how you get on with this set up.

Get a 7.5" fan and duct some air from somewhere cold and you shouldn’t need a scoop
|

Similar positioning of mine- just waiting on deliverory of the silicon adaptors.
I have been trying to sort out hood scoop vs ducting in from the side or bottom. Problem with a hood scoop is that it has to be high enough off of
the bonnet to get past the boundry layor of air along the bonnet. I think that normally would be a minimum of 3 to 4 inches off the surface. Ducting
out the side of the bonnet or down through the trans tunnel is an option as well.

after good run, IAT reached as much as 72 degrees, power falls off radip at these temps

get a cryo system fited to spray co2 onto the intercooler at around 60 degs.....bonnet scoops are a waste of time, you will get a warm air depression
under the bonnet where the cool air coming in from the nose cone warms up from the rad and the cool air coming in from the scoop hits it.....you would
need vents at the back of the bonnet to releas it.........
just because you are a character, doesnt mean you have character....
for all your bespoke parts, ali welding, waterjet, laser, folding, turning, milling, composite work, spraying, anodising and cad drawing....

front mount or charge cooler imo
anything else is ultimatley a bodge
