Busa Intake Air Control Valve - What Does it Do?
Hi All,
What does the 'Busa Intake Air Control Valve do? Its the vacuum actuator and flap inside the air box and associated gubbins. Does it effect
performance or is it just for emissions?
Has anyone bothered with it on their BEC?
If I don't need it can I simply disconnect the Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve and associated vacuum pipes (capping the vacuum connector on the
throttle body of course) or will this cause the ECU to throw a wobbler?

It's to control the air flow into the airbox as far as i'm aware and utilise the ram air effect.
I've not used it and have just disconnected it on our K5.
I have seen on a Austrailian buggy forum something about a resistor being needed, maybe on later models. Some good info there which may sort you
out.

On my Megabusa I deleted it as I am not using the standard airbox so no need for it.
I actually just taped it back into the loom I think.
I can send you the Westfield loom modification instructions if you want which covers all the required mods.

The purpose is to maintain higher air speed at low throttle openings. This was the method employed bfore secondary throttle butterflies were thought
of. It will run perfectly well without it if you intend to use the original airbox. Yes you can disconnect all the vacuum and electrical connections
and it will not bring on any FI warning either. See my photo archive of how I have used the Hayabusa airbox. It is great for low induction noise and
good for power if you make a cold forced air intake in the bonnet.
If it can't be fixed with a hammer then its probably an electrical problem.
