just keep revving it until it stops.

if it stops with a bang then no rev limiter

if it cuts out and comes back once the revs drop then its a hard limiter.

if it the advance drops to 0 for a while before it blows then it was a soft limiter.

I have an adjustable one doing nothing. It's for a V8, but if you set it to double what you want it should work.

My stadard ford setup (CVH) seems to (found out when the throttle jammed open!).. Don't really on the limiter to save the engine though as it stops the ignition but the fuel is still there and this will wash the oil film from the bores etc etc... Good for occasional engine saving, in the heat of the moment, or if the throttle jams!

Maybe, I'd like to know why it's "nonsense".. The above is my understanding (and that's not always 100%, after all we are all learning or I would not bother being on the forum)..

The amount of unburnt fuel and the length of time the ignition is cut for is not enough to do significant engine damage.

Might get some backfiring.
