ECU on Zetec
I just found out that my ECU is probably useless; my 2.0 Mondeo Zetec engine comes from an automatic, and according to Haynes they seem to have a
seperate ignition module "EDIS" (which I don't have).
Manuals have this ignition module integrated in the ECU, so I guess I have to find a manual ECU....right?
My budget goes through the roof!

I'm just about to put a Zetec in my car. Are you trying to use the standard plenum etc?? This is a pretty difficult route I've heard as
the ECU needs lots of systems working to function correctly. I'm looking into carbs and a seperate ignition module or (ideally) throttle bodies
and management.
You can use the EDIS (Electronic Distributorless Ignition System) found on other fords running carbs which is a seperate unit.
See here for more info:

I fitted an Emerald unit. It really is plug and play with either carbs or throttle bodies.

How do I know if my ECU is the right one? It is an EEC-IV, and there are some other numbers on it.
The scrappy where I bought my engine, also sold me this ECU, and told me it was the one from this engine. Sooo, if I understand Haynes correctly, I
will have the one without EDIS!?!?!
Oh, by the way: yes, my intention is to use the complete Ford ignition/inlet/computer system.
Any help is appreciated. I'm not looking forward to buying a second ECU, as these things don't come cheap.
