MegaSquirtnEDIS
Just had my pinto fired up on a MegaSquirtnEDIS, in need of a few technical adjustments, like idle control and wiring tidying, and first pass tuning
before I test it on the road. I think that I may need to tweak the coolant temp sensor input though. Judging by T shirt n shorts it aint -4deg C.
Anyone else running one?

What does the cost of the system come out at? was looking at getting the M3D system but thats £700 to run my pinto turbo. Is the Mega system
cheaper.

Rob,
I would say that the system comes out significantly cheaper. I ordered enough components for 2 units plus several spare map sensors &
microcontrollers etc as I am working on other projects.
I built a programmer and my own Stimulator board. To save time I'd recommend buying the stimulator kit, it's used extensively through the
excellently documented build procedure. You don't need a programmer to build the megasquirt, it just takes the risk out of changing the firmware
over to the EDIS version if the loader fails.
I picked up the EDIS parts, coil pack etc from the scrappy and made my own toothed disc.

I was going to get one of the kits, but payment seemd to be a hassle, no online payments or credit cards etc. it has to be check, money order, or bank
draft. Presumably a cheque in pounds sterling won't be very usefull? I've never had to send money aboard like this, would my bank be able
to sort this out?

Thanks, it seems like its been more hassle than when I first built the car. Nearly ready for a trial fit.

Probably - mine did.
It was a bit of a faff but well worth the effort, I went to the bank and was given a form to fill out to request a foreign draft. Sent this to the
bank, a few days later they returned the foreign draft. Sent this off to Al Grippo and after he'd come back from his hols he sent the PCB,
microcontroller, map sensor and fET driver kit.
I am very impressed with the whole project so far especially with the additional EDIS ignition control facility, I wish I had done it ages ago.
Apart from a few minor hardware mods to implent the EDIS control the only other mod so far is to change the coolant temp resistor to calibrate the one
on the pinto.
I have just been out driving the car with the volumetric efficiency map set to a first pass estimate based on power and torque, and a base ignition
map. Unfortunately the laptop battery went flat so we have limited logging but it drives like a good un. The plugs look more the right colour when I
returned. I need to sort out the rev counter though.
It's early days but unless there's something I've missed I think that this might be the solution to locost use of later fuel
injected cars. I'm using it on the pinto to gain experience with it.
