Exploding Gearbox
Dear All
Enclosed is a photo of a friend's gearbox that 'exploded' in his Fury last week, showering him and his wife with oil and bits and
trashing the tunnel panelling. It also took out his prop etc (which leads me to think that maybe this caused the problem?
Scary!

WOW!! Glad they were ok. Did they have the tunnel diagonals in place? Hope they get it running again soon. Cheers!

They're both OK although a bit shocked!
I'm not sure exactly what happened but the prop joints disntegrated as well - maybe the box seized and blew and, as they were still travellng at
speed, the prop gave way as well?

I wonder if something jammed in a cog - or a gear shattered and locked the box up....

I had something similar with a Fiat 128 years ago, the diff picked up something and locked solid at about 80mph on the A38, I caught the spin, but the
box was totalled, the casing didn't fracture though. I had to take the shafts out on the side of the road to get towed home
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Useful for those wanting an exploded diagram of a Type9 though!
