Busa Cooling System
im about to plumb my 09 Busa Engine and would like to confirm im doing it remotely right.
Ive drawn a picture, I know putting high quality designs like these on the internet could lead to motorsport companies copying my work but here goes
blue pipes are the 25mm coolant hoses and the orange lines are the 5mm (im guessing) coolant hoses.
am i doing it right?

I'd say that the pipe from engine to header is wrong (blue) and should T into the pipe underneath going to the water pump.
The hose from the bottom of the header should be 16mm T into the 25mm.
You don't want full flow through your header tank.
Smaller pipes 8mm

Shouldn't the waterpump push the water in the engine after the radiator?
Just thinking, the waterpump could deal better being cooler after the rad than after the engine.

wouldnt the water pump be taking water from the rad to the engine, the main outlet from the engine should go to the top of the radiator.the header
should be on a tee with the engine inlet.
the two wee ones just stick into the header.

This is a picture of my Clio RSi
Obviously not a bike engine but principle should be the same i believe

im not sure how the busa pipes run etc, but i would say go from the engine to the water pump then 'T' the outlet from the header tank into
the pipe just before the water pump. this will keep a weight of water on the back of the water pump, and greatly aid in reducing any cavitation
problems (something often overlooked) - end result --> better thermal efficiency = more powaaaaa!!!
should have one pipe (8-10mm ID) from the top of the rad going to the top of the header tank. im not sure what the other orange pipes are in your
highly technical drawing , where do these run on the standard bike?
as a general rule, copy the manufacturer, they often dont get it wrong

thanks guys
I see what your saying regarding not wanting full flow through the header tank.
one last thing, can any recommend a decent electric water pump, I dont have any clue how much water I should be looking to pump around the system per
minute etc..
Ive seen some of the high flow ones but are these neccessary or will it improve the cooling?
Thanks again

ok heres amazingly technical drawing number 2
i would imagine mclaren will be along shortly to look at employing me in some sort of sluid dynamics role...
anyhow until this happens heres my new plan....
I forgot to put the water pump on, but it would go between bottom of rad and coolant in (thus pushing cooled water into engine)
Thanks
