Hi guys new build to show you!
Hello!
Ok, i have been a long time lurker but now i have finally signed up.
I brought a Tiger Super 6 from this forum for the princely sum of £1500, and was assured it was all complete... It wasn't
Anywho it came with a Vauxhall 2.0 XE engine, and after much thinking (and constant teasing) i finally decided on a change of engine...
Here we are:
And yes what a tight sod it was to get in!?!

£1500 for a Super 6 is a bit of a bargain, complete or not Have you tried the bonnet for fit? the 2.3 is a tall engine

Hi
Yes the bonnet may need some 'adjustments' I think a cut out round the top cover so all you can see is 'Saab 2.3'
However my friend told me to grind that of and get 'Talbot' or something along them lines put on lol.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

loads of room.
could get another one in that space.
ha ha!
good work.
isnt the engine a little heavy though?
i would guess the engine and box weighs about 300 kg?
maybe wrong.

About time you signed up rather than abusing my accout
This is his first build... he doesnt like to do anything by halfs some of the work arounds to get th engine to fit have bee very interesting but I
will leae him to fill you in on the detail.
As for the combined weight of the engine and box I'm pretty sure it's lighter than the 2.0 pinto and type 9 combinatin currenttly residing
in my indy.
The box is a manta box which will hopefully hold out but it is being asked a lot as it is rated at 240lb/ft iirc but with any luck the light weight 7
should not bee to hard on it.
Re getting to the steering rack you can see in the 6th pic the column is in place
Anyway I will let him reply to your Qs rather than taking over the thread, keep up the good work mate was looking good this afternoon Oh and thanks
for helping get the engine into mine

lol, unfortunately a manta gearbox will last about 10 mins, an omega about 20........ you really need a T5 at the very least with that amount of
torque..... it's far from a bad idea (as mentioned routing the steering shaft will be a challenge!) but saab engines kick out huge torque which
is the thing that destroys gearboxes

Hi and thanks for all the comments.
I will put up a build thread soon so you can see the various problems i have had.
Regarding XE's, i am quite sure they must be great, i went out in a Tiger E1 last night with a 2.0 Pinto and was quite impressed! I imagine the
XE's must be even better. However i always wanted to do a conversion and this seemed the easiest way! (Errr Kinda)
Gearbox is indeed a Manta Getrag, do you really think it will go pop very quickly? There is a guy pushing 350BHP into one with no problems?!?!?!
