zetec engine breather

hi, car parked up for winter upgrades etc, doing exhaust at mo, noticed engine oil on bell housing etc seems to be comming from engine breather joiner, i left this standard when engine whent in, its connected to filter housing via rubber pipe, tee piece for rocker cover breather etc, should i have modified the breather as i recall something somewhere, just cannot find it at mo, thanks for any suggestions, andy

Mine just goes from the oblong breather outlet on the block into the air filter backplate with no modifications and has been fine.

Whoa! Have you still got the valve in the block end of the tube, the bit that pushes into the metal box bolted onto the side of the engine (oil trap). Same deal as with the pinto. Requires two or three psi of suck to lift this valve or similar crankcase pressure to blow it open and this often doesn't happen if the line is not into the manifold. Grind the lip off the valve case, the valve falls out and the breather is now free flowing.
