Engine won't hold steady revs
Hi peeps,
My engine won't hold steady revs
If I "blip" the throttle it revs really nicely, if I hold the throttle part way open it it pops and bangs and spits back through the
trumpets.
Details are:
2L 8 valve Vauxhall SEH (Cav SRI 130)
Twin 45 Webers fitted
Distributor from 1.6/1.8 carbed cav
Filter king pressure regulator
Facet Silver Top fuel pump
Chaterham Stainless exaust system
Can't think of anything else relavent....
Anyone any ideas / suggestions? I've got my SVA in 5 weeks!
Cheers
Graham

Hi
Are the carbs jetted correctly?
I had this on my pinto, the idle jets were too small, i had 45F9's but had to go up to 55F9's to get it to run ok

the carbs i have are dcoe40's and i think they are jetted for a 1700 engine and concequently run lean(and engine runs hot) the noise i think
came in at 101dB.the carbs arent too far out at idle as the idle jets for 1700 and 2ltr arent much different apparently but once you start revving of
pulling away the next jet kicks in and the troubles start ,lumpy, back farting and not a great performance.

Instead of replacing your carbs, don't you just need to get them set up correctly?

re-jetting works out almost the same price as a set of 45's

Hi All
Have you tried a jetting program to see how far out you are? the jets a quite cheap but chokes and emulsion tubes are pricey, though sets do appear on
ebay from time to time
