Paint Type For Cam Covers
I'm looking to paint the cam covers on my Toyato 4AGE and wondering about using normal car paint. I've looked at the high temperature
paints but there's a limited range of colours. I'm thinking normal car paint, probably metalic, gives me many more options but I'm
not sure about temperature limitations.
I'm thinking cam covers don't get that hot and it will be OK. It stands up to hot sunny days in places like Spain after all.
Any thoughts? What have others used?
Thanks

Some normal car body paint might work, but I've not had positive expereinces. The paint on the my MR2 turbo cam cover shrunk and cracked due to
heat. A friend painted the cam cover on his Civic rally car and when the engine gets hot the paint softens and if you try to wipe it with a rag or
even touch it with your hand it makes a real mess of the finish. Both were done using normal car aerosol paint.
I used the black VHT wrinkle paint on my old Civic VTi cam cover and not only did it look exactly as it had from the factory it also lasted many years
with no problems.

One thing I have found works a treat on previous ones is radiator enamel. Limited colours though, white matched my car at the time!
