V8 Rover angle question.

soooo.

me and my friend decided to fit his v8 rover 3.5 engine with manual gearbox into his cortina 2.0 gt 3 door.

Anyway im a little confused as ive seen these cars take the engine. but when we fitted it the angle of the engine is about 5 degrees or more going down from the front (rad side) to the gearbox side.

im unsure if thats fine so i thought id bring it to the locost peep's ......

anyway.... any help would be good.

the sump pick up is at the gearbox side so pickup should be an issue.....

Do you mean it's higher at the front than the rear?

the position of an engine is fixed by the engine and gearbox mounts - which presumably you have made - so if it doesn't look right then it probably isn't. can you raise the gearbox mount a little?

Ye it's higher at the front.

Can't higher the gearbox side anymore cos the prop won't run to the diff due to a crossmember.

We haven't darted fixing the mounts yet it just rested in place at the best angle we can achieve without fitting the steering rack or the prop hitting the crossmember.

I was hoping the angle wouldn't be too bad but I thought I'd check with you lot....

Thanks

From what I remember, the engine sat nose up in the SD1 by about 5 degrees. Manifolds have an angle built into them so carbs are level.

Gearbox for Rover 3.5 V8

What gearbox do you have with that engine? 4speed? I'm looking putting the 3.5L V8 in the locost. Was thinking about the Mazda MX5 as the donor but want an LSD, 4 pot ally calipers. I know where I can get them from but I'd rather it come from one donor car.

Thanks in advance.
