ZAFFIRA SUMP REMOVAL

Hi Folks

Has anyone ever removed/refitted a sump on an Astra G of Zaffira A - the 1.6 16v version as the other halfs has started to weep badly around the sump flange. And looking at the sump it looks like it mates up to the back of the gearbox?

Is it a straight forward job or has anyone encountered removal issues when attempting this job, as she needs car for work so only have a day to turn it around.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

easy enough to do. You might have to drop the exhaust front pipe to get the sump past the pick-up pipe. When going back get the sump the block bolts in but just nipped up. Then tighten a couple of the ones to the bell housing to pull it fully that way and tighten the sump bolts at the opposite end. Slacken the bell housing bolts and do up the rest of the sump bolts then re-tighten around the bell housing.

When the sump is off it is worth checking on these that the suction screen fot the oil pickup isn't sludged up.

I have the sump to change on Nissan Note as soon as we can get hold of the part just 3 years old, 32,000 miles and the sump is rotten.
