Any one give me an idea of power economy amd mapping potential on these, currently looking at one on an 01 plate
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

First google "VW T4 cracked head" and "VW T4 head gasket" then make your decision.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

Depending on how heavy your right foot is mpg wise expect 32mpg upto 45 some are better than others. I have had 2 (1.9d and 1.9td so never had a 2.5)
but I believe that the mpg arent that different but obviously performance is. I have heard of 2.5TDI's being mapped to around 180bhp and still
being quite reliable, as for the head issue I dont know much about but I do know a few guys who upgraded from T4's to T5's and have gone
back to top spec T4's as they prefer them.

A problem affecting the 2.4 engine & largely solved with the 2.5 that replaced it. Whatever you buy someone will tell you what a mistake
you've made, how you should have got a whatever etc but the truth is nothings perfect & everyone's needs, budget & expectations
are different. You'll be unlucky to suffer a cracked head, you could buy a Traffic/Movano & the gearbox WILL fail* or a Transit that WILL
rust to bits** as loads of wise folk will tell you.
Bought my T4 at 138,000 miles & just about to clock 160,000 & that's nothing compared to some! I get around 30-33mpg on mostly B road
driving, on good A roads & motorway you can expect 40+mpg if you aint in too much hurry.
Go onto the T4 Forum & search for Project Power, it's a set of mods & remap that's been researched, tested & known to produce
good results. First indicator of what you have is to open the bonnet, there's 2 specs of 2.5TDI in UK T4s, if there's an intercooler on
top of the engine it's a 102bhp, if it's not intercooled it's 88bhp.
* or it might not, I know of a few running about that have been no bother & 2 that have
** actually this probably will happen!!

Hi
I've had one for 7 years now it had 159K on the clock when 3 years old and I've taken it up to 210K. It's only 88BHP but will sit at
80 all day on the flat. Thinking about bigger injectors and remap now.
Make sure the belts are changed early, mine failed and took out the cam£££££££££££shaft etc.

They go for stupidly daft money, mate had a 51 plate red one with flat paintwork and 190,000 on the clock thought I'd offer him £500 for it as
a project god knows why Ive enough on the go, he got £3.5k from a dealer as a straight buy not P/x. I was gobsmacked.
Cheers
Bob
