xflow engine swap

Hi all I'm new to the forum so go easy on me
I have recently purchased a locost with a 1600 crossflow in. I owned a s2000 for 4 years previous to buying the locost and the be honest I thought the locost would be much faster than it is due to its weight.

I'm considering changing the engine to something with more poke maybe a zetec or a redtop.
My car was built from a 1300 mk2 escort and has a 4 speed box which I'm not to keen on. The engine was later changed to a 1600 crossflow.
My questions are
1. If i was to fit a zetec would I need to modify the prop to mate to say a type 9 box?
2. Would the speedo cable fit to the new box? and also the rev counter or would I need to fit zetec dials
3. Would I need to change the fuel pump?
4. What carbs would be best suited to a zetec

Modifying engine mounts, exhausts etc won't be a problem as I'm a plater welder.

Any other pointers on the mods required would be very welcome

matty

It's likely that the escort box has a 7/8" 20 spline end, a type 9 will be 1" 23 spline.
The speedo cable may fit but the output drive will probably be wrong giving a false reading.
If you have an electric pump it may be ok but bike carbs need a fuel pressure regulator.
The 1600 crossflow if standard probably gives 80 bhp a good Zetec well set up should double that.

There's plenty of knowledge on fitting the Zetec just keep asking and also use the search facility

it's an 1800 on twin 40 carbs, you wouldn't need much else for the setup.... u2u me if you're interested, oh and it's very modestly priced too!
