Best Source of Rebuild Parts
Hi All,
As I am new to this Zetec game, so can someone advice on the best places to look for engine rebuild(ish) bits... I need the following for my 1800cc
Zetec silvertop lump
Headgasket set
Bottom end gasket set
Water pump
Oil Pump
Cam Belt Kit
Aux Belt
Basically I have the engine minus oil and water pumps, head, sump and gearbox removed. And need to put it back together.
I have looked on ebay but car model and years are slightly confussing, and also found LDS engineering which seem resonable and make the products as
'blacktop' and 'silvertop' which is useful.

you need the 1.8 escort pump if its a silvertop engine
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Burton power has lots of engine guides. their products they sell are often performance and therefore expensive over standard parts. but their
imformation should allow you to guesstimate a year and car model and allow u to go into your local motorfactors for bits

If you can read the engine number, on the rear flange that bolts to the bellhousing just above the starter motor) then you should be able to work out
a year. Then go to 'Gaskets for classics' on ebay for gaskets.
Local motor factors may be easiest for the rest. Say 1.8 94 mondeo except for the water pump which is escort.
Auxilary belt from Halfords which allows you to choose by length once you know what alternator set-up you will run.
May seem an odd question but why refurbish a zetec engine. Easier and cheaper to get another from the scrappy? Not as if they are rare, expensive or
wear out under 100,000 miles.
