Stolen Engine or not?
Anyone know how I can check if an engine is stolen or not.
Engine has numbers.
Will have to go IVA route so dont want to get caught out at that stage !

Dlva is only way ain't it? You can't hpi an engine.
You should get a copy of the v5 when u buy an engine out of a scrapped car or at least a receipt for via. Write to the Ebla explaining u have procured
the engine ......

Thx Jossy will give them a ring tomorrow.
Will a receipt from an individual be ok or does it have to be a business for iva and registration etc?
I mean if i buy an engine via a friend or ebay instead of a breakers yard or the like.

now I find that very strange, because when I used to race a bike pc plod was always showing up and checking engine numbers and quite often taking a
bike away or at the very least an engine, so there must be a way,
even though we are part of the eu a lot of stolen bike engines come into the uk with no way of checking as the dvla don't work hand in hand with
say the french equivelent of the dvla.
