r1 variable srtack trumpets advice
ok on the 2008 4c8 model r1 im using it has variable trumpets like these
now as far as im aware at low revs theyll close and high revs theyll open. what i need to know is if the low down torque gains will be worth the
massive amount of fu**ing about il need to do to get them to work both with the ecu im using and also the airbox issues bonnet modding etc or shal i
just job them off and leave them short!??? if i dont use them il stil be using a proper sealed airbox with forced induction anyway . . thanks in
advance!

the fact that every engine/manufature does not use them , to me says no. nice idea, great in the sales brochure bit otr in a car your not going to
see any real benefit for the faffing

The purpose of variable length inlet tract is pulse tuning the charge to variable revs. If going normally aspirated then there would be some benefit.
They would be controlled how? PWM? Certainly easy enough if using an ECU with that facility such as DTA S60 and going naturally aspirated it would
work. If they are a straight of/on at specific revs then almost any ECU will have a suitable outlet.
But you mention forced induction and in that case I believe it ceases to have any real benefit. Take the whole variable inlet length gubbins off and
keep the short trumpets if fitting a blower would be my advice.
Out of interest which bit moves. Do the trumpets in the carbs lengthen to meet the bases of the dangling ones or do the dangling ones pull down onto
the ones already in the carbs?
