Is there a benefit to using donor exhaust?

Would there be any benefit in using an exhaust designed for the donor instead of the standard turned out side silencers?
Not necessarily standard donor exhaust but possibly an aftermarket one if it can be made to fit,

You mean he nasty rust bent pipe thing that you get from KWIKFIT?
Cant seed many advantages to it, except they could change all your shocks and tyres as well

Manufactures spend alot of time and money making sure exhausts are correct for the engine, I would keep one if you could same goes for ecu IMO

I suppose keeping as much of the original exhaust on the car pre SVA/IVA would be a benifit, due noise limits
and sva/iva it falls off and a nice shiney loud pipe is added on the side

But with most of our 7 replicars etc, they are so low to the ground, there is no room for a standard exhaust under the car

Certainly not on my car anyway!

^^ thats true, but most normal enignes are tunned for econnomy these days

but if we talking about an S2000 then I know some folk have spent alot of time tunning the exausts just to get them aproximatly as good the factory ones, but if your going to change the ECU and induction sides you'll end up having to play around with it all anyway (depending on how tunned you want it to be of course)

If you are keeping the standard tune the advantages I can see are:

Its free.
No noise issues for IVA/MOT.
Can get another from standard supplier if you need to.

Hugh

I would suggest using standard manifold, or as much as you can and then going sidey with it. Best of both worlds?

Where "correct" = quiet enough and cheap enough.

However, I don't see how you could use the donor exhaust since it's designed to run in the tunnel in the floor of a tin top. Run one underneath a locost and you'll be stopping to retrieve it every 5 minutes when you encounter a small pot hole or speed bump.

yes reman, a nasty rusty pipe
was meaning more like a decent aftermarket stainless setup like i have with small ish silencer, and modified piping to suit. as its designed for the engine and its characteristics!
indybird easily modded a twin silencer rear exit on his mnr, and i know for sure wetfield do an underslung system. some of the s2000's on s2ki sit very low also
