engine dilema
Hi all
Hope you all had a good one.
What would you do?
I have a used 2.0 duratec engine 72000 miles cleaned ready to go in my zero, do I use this and get an age related plate, sell the engine and buy a new
2.0 zetec one just to get a new plate.
BHP or new reg
Many Thanks
Mark

For me its BHP. Unless you "really" want a new reg. BHP!!!
Saying that Im using an old 2.0 blacktop and will have a Q plate so neither new reg or lots of power
Plenty of time to upgrade later....

Do you have a new everything else (with one recon part)?
You could fit the zetec to get a new reg, then drive for one summer on that, then upgrade to the duratec after. You might find the zetec has enough
power for you.

And converting from a Zetec to Duratec means 'swapping sides' so to speak (inlet/exhaust...).
How old would the Duratec age related plate be anyway?

Or using a computer make a receipt for reconditioning the engine and gear box plus receipts for other bits as new.
I wouldnt do that myself you understand cause that would be wrong

Duratec will not bolt to MT75 unless its ones of those expensive MCT special ones with a removable bellhousing. Zetec will bolt starit to MT75.

Just to chuck in my thoughts.
The older the engine the easier the emmissions requirement. Which are put on your V5 and apply what ever engine you fit in the future
Pre 95 no cat, post 95 cat required

What Snapper says. Got a 1994 2 litre Zetec under the bench waiting for a suitable project. Makes registering and MOT's so much easier, visible
smoke only. Trouble is finding a good one that old, bought mine about 12 years ago, used it in 2 projects and its a cracker, that's why I still
have it.

But you can only have 1 recon part, so you would need a recon reciept for either the engine or the gearbox as one, and then if you had a new
gearbox, you would also need a new diff too as they would technically come under the 'Transmission section' of the 'V627 Built up
Vehicle Inspection Report'
