Xlow Aldon Dizzy Won't Fit

I'm in the process of re-building a xflow(Autosprint 1399cc) powered Sylva Striker and having a few problems trying to fit a Aldon dizzy fitted with a side entery cap. I'm running twin 40's on a alloy inlet manifold and there's no room to fit the dizzy.
Have I got the wrong manifold and is there a difference between a 1600 manifold and a 1300 one. Maybe mines a 1600 one but not sure. Hope someone can help.
Cheers
Chris

There is a difference between the manifold for a 1600 and one for a 1300. See here, this may help.

See the link below.
I run a 1300 xflow in my mallock mk11b.
The only dizzy cap that will fit in such a small gap is the one below.

As above post

It's definitely possible, I ran my car for 2 years with a dizzy and that actual manifold and carbs!

Aldon Dizzy Problem

Still having trouble getting the dizzy to fit.
Checked with Aldon and they say its the right dizzy.
Checked the inlet manifold and its the 1300 version angled upwards to give more room.
Tried a Lucas side entery cap. No joy.
Tried a Lucas Distributor Cap DDB123 for Austin Maestro 1600 MG as recomended by Aldon with leads coming out of both sides but still not enought room.
All the above have been tried by the students at Myerscough College. The car is being rebuilt as part of a diploma course so I've not had chance to try and fit it myself (I know lazy bastard). They are sugesting I get a Motorcraft 12100 dizzy instead but I'm sure you can't get a side entery cap for that type of dizzy and am sure the Aldon one should fit but can't work out why it wont.
Any ideas chaps.
Cheers
Chris
