best way to fit a single point fuel injection system to a petrol landy 2.25
Hi
I have a 2.25 petrol landy that I was thinking it would be nice to fit a single point injection system to and a lamda sensor so I had close loop
mixture control
The carb is just rubbish and the manual coke a pita
Any reasonably priced systems around these days I could retrofit? can't see an engine any more simple to modify than a basic landy one
I remember mega squirt system but not sure that even exists now

Was thinking the same for my Series IIa.
There are lots of single point injection units on a well known auction site.
A simple manifold adaptor might suit.
Certainly stands a better chance of getting some fuel economy compared to a worn out 40 year old Solex or Zenith

I suspect this could give quite a reasonable improvement in economy and driveability in an old Landy, especially if combined with ignition control.
You might even find a suitable SPI throttle body from an older car that will fit the Solex/Zenith manifold, or a simple adapter plate could be made.
You'd need to find something from a car with similar power to your Landy, maybe a 1.6 8v Astra like this: Throttle Body

This part includes the throttle, the injector, fuel pressure regulator and throttle position sensor so would solve a lot of problems in one go.
Megasquirt is still around and the majority of aftermarket systems should be able to cope with a simple SPI system.

It's more to improve drivabilty especially when cold, I have a newish carb and it runs rather pathetic

ISTR most single point systems depend on electric manifold heaters to improve mixture distribution, it might be worth looking at the throttle body
from a SPi Metro early 90s Rover 214 Spi or the early Rover 820i. spi.
However if I had a petrol Landy I would go straight fo an LPG conversion and almost half fuel costs.
