Engine out

And found the problem:

It's a 190mm clutch on the 212mm face on the flywheel, so a bit sub-optimal Didn't pay enough attention when I assembled it, guess my supplier here in Holland didn't really think it through.
Also, the release bearing failed again! I must be doing something wrong. Are you using the standard T9 release bearing, or is there an uprated one somewhere? I'ts a 4A-GE engine to a T9 gearbox btw.

I've seen numerous standard clutches on normal road cars fail in the same way, so it's not necessarily due to your set up. Is the friction plate a decent branded part (Valeo, Luk, Borg and Beck etc) or a cheaper part?

In what way did the release bearing fail? Are you using a Ford cover, or a Toyota part?

It's a Luk plate. I'm not sure about the cover.
My previous bearing failed with a terrible rattle, but this one is even worse: I can jiggle the bearing part about 5mm while the bearing's plastic center shaft stays put.

I've got a new Helix cover and plate, but I'm still unsure about the release bearing, don't want it to fail again.

Round fingers on the clutch cover uses flat release bearing, flat fingers on the cover uses a rounded at the edges bearing
Look at the real ease bearing for the clutch cover and compare with Ford release bearings.

I have never dismatled that area of my car but I am sure on the spec sheet I got the previous owner to right up he stated that he fitted two release bearings as there was space.

It is a 4age Blacktop to type 9.

The OEM one does have a slightly beveled edge, the stock T9 one has a flat face. I can't really find one with a rounded edge, do you know of any suppliers?

This is a std. 4AGE one:
