After all this what's next?

All,
I finally found out what my running problems were although may still have some slight tuning issues to find out that I may have some more problems around the corner... During the rolling road tune I occasionally heard what can only be described as a sound like a rough bearing... It is not there all the time however today looking in the top of the dry sump tank I found a couple of little bits of swaf wedged in the aeration plate. Tested with a magnet they are steel.... So finding that my throttle pot was causing the runnig problems may not be the last of my woes... I have 6 litres of oil in the system so don't want to keep draining it to see if there are any more bits although I guess I should....

motor is from a 2003 Focus ST170 and the engine had only done 100 miles from new...

So do I drain it or drive it?

Drain it, filter the oil through a fine cloth and reuse, replace the oil filter and check the dry sump scavange pump as the lightly suspect and make sure nothing is lying in the bottom of the tank.

It's a gamble after that really

100 miles from new ?

The swarf is from machining the block during manufacture, pretty normal ?
