The ZX 6 and 9r range seem popular I have the ZX9's and have had no problems

I used cbr600 fx carbs, look for some with a TPS fitted if you are running some sort of ecu.

Bike Carbs

Hi,

Thanks for the replay. I want to get away from using an ECU at all. The challenge is that, I originally had a CVH set-up in the car and now replacing with 4age. So all wiring is cvh, so instead of the hassle of changing all the wiring with ecu etc, i was just going to use a bike carb to get away from the fuel injection etc. I do have a complete donor car. So any ideas on wiring workaround would be great

Also , where can I find the flange for the bike carbs on the 4age? Is there somebody on here who makes them?

Jason aka shorttrack123 on here made me the flange
laser cut 4A-GE inlet flange
laser cut 4A-GE inlet flange

I then made the runners and welded it all together. I used the old manifold to stop it twisting;

(tul214)Thanks for the info, really helpful. I noted you did not use the standard dizzy was this due to space? Also what would be your view on my wiring issue, whatts the best way forward. I have the original loom from the donor car , but would be allot of hassle to install etc?

Do you have any other pics of your engine set-up ?

..no, just that the engine came as a package from RAW with the OMEX ECU. Mine was one of the 1st they did and was badged as a '100'. It was a very simple 'spark only' system but was very reliable.

Re the wiring, the motor needs very little of the loom to run, I never had to look at the dizzy but I am sure that there will be some advice on here somewhere.

For pics, have a look in my archive

I bought a small electronic box from Australia for use with the standard dizzy as I am using 4 webers on my 4age. The ignition is set to running advance and the box retards the ignition for idle, used with a Lucas or Bosch sports coil.

Yes, they are the same as mine. Very simple to split and re-space. I just followed David's example here

I can't find shorttrack anymore either? he must have deleted his posts???

You could try FASTdan on here. He has a website here

The 4age dizzy can't be used standalone.

It has the HV leadouts and the rotor arm but that's it. The rest internally is sensors for counting for the separate ignitor module plus Toyota ecu for spark timing. It's driven off the cam.

You would need either an ecu or Megajolt to run it.

Thanks folks. tul214, would you still have the drawing from which your flange was made? I haven't remove my TVIS yet, so cannot get a drawing from the head. I know there might be a different in ports, but hopefully might be the same as mine. The donor car is a 87 D-reg if that helps? If if not I will just have to get it off?

Probably not.....it was about 4 yrs ago

Mine was a small port engine from a corolla anyway.

You could just buy an inlet gasket to use as a template.
