Replacement Exhaust

After reading a previous thread on here from a couple of years ago I am looking at changing my exhaust for something a little tidier and quieter.

At present I have a Blueflame twin-port from my old VFR but I think it is probably going to be too loud for Mr VOSA and it also has seen better days so lets the appearance down a little.

The above thread mentioned that either R1 or ZX12 silencers are probably the best option (nice and big + quiet) but I am a little unsure about fitting of a ZX12 as they seem to have a bolt-on fitting at the input end?

I am running a 2L Pinto with a standard manifold running into a modified 2-1 section.

Apart from the obvious db killers etc. do you guys have any good tips/info on what to use?

Cost IS a factor and really this is the last major job apart from toe-in/camber before applying for the test.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks guys

JB

R1 has a slide fitting so ticks the box on making it IVA compliant - tick

They are restrictive, however easy to de-gut afterwards - tick

Early ones you can weld, later ones have titanium pipes so you will struggle.

I did try and make a ZX10 work at one point, making the adaptor fit and be neat defeated me, tried to modify the outlet to 90 degree's, it was a titanium tube so gave up.

Regards Mark

Thanks for the feedback Mark.

I had to use a curved section I had from an old exhaust and weld it to the upper outlet of the Blueflame because it was scorching the bottom of the rear arch. It works but doesn't look overly pretty! Will I be able to fit something similar to the R1 can, i.e. is it steel or titanium?

Also, I will obviously have to modify the front pipe to suit my system so the same question there.

John
